Welcome to NJCEIA for the 2011-2012 academic year!

Our thirty seven year old association consists of a mix of educators and employers from all over New Jersey, all of whom are involved in some way with cooperative education and internships. This association is strongly committed to providing a supportive and professional atmosphere where members can network and share resources with their colleagues.

Under the leadership of our new Executive Board, we will be continuing the tradition of developing and carrying out the creative and relevant programming that we have previously been providing for our members. Our new “theme” is “Rebuilding and Rebranding after the Recession”, which seems to be a timely and significant topic for all. We are going to be addressing the effects of the economy and its’ recovery in our programs and speakers this year.

Always looking to improve our resources for our members, we will be working on redesigning the website to make it more “user friendly” as well as giving it a fresh new look.  Another goal we will be striving for is to offer mentoring services to new members. We would love to tap into our more experienced and seasoned members to achieve this.  By volunteering to get involved and assist those “newbies” with questions pertaining to their programs/career, they will prove to be an invaluable source of information for them.  Increasing and strengthening our membership, especially with employers, will also be an ongoing objective for the organization.

We are looking to continue our new tradition of “giving back” through our holiday service day, which we began last year at the Community Food Bank in Hillside in lieu of a program. We hope to increase the amount of members who will be participating in this event, as it’s a wonderful organization to be involved with.

NJCEIA is not only still around, but thriving and continuing to reinvent itself. We look forward to another year of successful programs with a strong and active membership. Please feel free to contribute ideas and/or assistance with any part of our organization throughout the year by joining one of our committees. I’m looking forward to a successful and “Winning” year for all!

Sincerely,

Barbara Raido, President, NJCEIA
